Acceptable Use Policy

Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines the rules and guidelines for using SPNT services. Compliance with this policy is required to maintain access to our platform.

Authorized Use

Serpentine services may only be used to:

  • Scan and test systems you own
  • Scan and test systems for which you have explicit written authorization
  • Generate security reports and compliance evidence for authorized purposes
  • Harden and secure infrastructure you are responsible for

Prohibited Activities

Unauthorized Testing

  • Scanning or testing systems without explicit authorization from the owner
  • Using Serpentine tools to conduct attacks against third parties
  • Exploiting vulnerabilities discovered through our platform on unauthorized systems

Illegal Activities

  • Any activity that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Facilitating illegal access to computer systems
  • Distribution of malware or malicious code
  • Fraud, identity theft, or financial crimes

Harmful Activities

  • Denial of service attacks against any system
  • Attempting to disrupt Serpentine services or infrastructure
  • Interfering with other users' access to services
  • Attempting to access other users' accounts or data

Misuse of Services

  • Reselling or redistributing services without authorization
  • Using services to compete with Serpentine
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling, or disassembling our software
  • Circumventing technical limitations or access controls

Authorization Requirements

Before conducting security testing using Serpentine services, you must:

  1. Confirm ownership of target systems, OR
  2. Obtain written authorization from the system owner, AND
  3. Ensure testing complies with all applicable laws and regulations

We recommend maintaining documentation of authorization for all testing activities. You may be required to provide proof of authorization upon request.

Compliance Monitoring

SPNT reserves the right to monitor service usage for compliance with this AUP. We may investigate reports of policy violations and take appropriate action.

Consequences of Violation

Violations of this AUP may result in:

  • Warning and request to cease prohibited activity
  • Temporary suspension of account access
  • Permanent termination of account
  • Reporting to law enforcement authorities
  • Civil or criminal liability

Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any violation of this AUP, please report it to abuse@spnt.io.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this AUP from time to time. Continued use of services after changes constitutes acceptance.
